Our Mission StatementThe Traditional Anglican Order of Preachers was founded in the Continuing Anglican Church to foster religious vocations and to maintain the apostolate of preaching salvation and the orthodox catholic faith. We continue to be governed by the ancient Rule of St. Augustine as St. Dominic adapted it for his spiritual children. Additionally, the Fundamental Constitution and the Book of Constitutions and Ordinations of the Order of Preachers. We also have a Customary which is the non constitutional document by which the Anglican Order is governed. |
Third Order
The Third Order Secular
Many Christians would like to have a holier life but they do not want to take on the full rule of a religious order. This is the purpose of the tertiary rule. In the Dominican Order, the Third Order dates to the 13th century and a tertiary rule was officially given in 1285.
The Dominican Third Order has produced since that time many men and women who lived such lives of holiness that they have been officially named saints or blesseds in the Western Church. Among them are St. Catherine of Siena, St. Rose of Lima, Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati, Bl. Margaret of Costello and many others. Members of the Third Order are members of the Order, living with their own rule and participating with the friars, sisters and nuns in the apostolate of the Order.
